Okay, fuck it. I hate this car.
Okay, fuck it. I hate this car.
I can’t stop staring at that grille... I’m disgusted and kinda turned on at the same time...
It’s technically interesting and low-volume.
I loved these Eldos, and I like the Touring Coupe variant (low hp notwithstanding). This price is insane, though.
This was arguably the greatest of the Fox bodies, from a time when Ford was trying some cool, different stuff.
Volkswagen actually WANTED to unionize their Chattanooga plant. In Europe the unions are far more involved, even holding seats on the board of directors, and they wanted to see the UAW come into the Chattanooga plant as well. There was considerable resistance both from plant workers and TN state government.
Implementing it this way easily allows the use of smaller screens for lower-spec trims (which Ford is doing). It also allows the screen to be mounted a little higher for easier viewing for the driver with a quicker glance.
They’re basically the same car. This was Daimler’s effort to extend aging MB platforms, much the same way the full size sedans (Charger, 300) were built off a modified E-class.
I was a kid when these were being built and I was drooling even then. This was a great platform that GM executed on unusually well. Still quite a few of them out there, too.
This is honestly one of GM’s best-ever designs. In a perfect world every RV after this one would have mimicked its layout.
Not having a radio isn’t a problem since I’d want a 2019 head unit anyway.
“Rock Around the Clock” was the only proposed alternative that could even REMOTELY have worked; the song was on the soundtrack and the film takes place (roughly) over 24 hours.
I kinda dug the MKT; it was intended to translate the old Town Car ethos to an upright CUV kind of form-factor.
That’s actually why I like the “O.G.” Q. They tried to do something different.
It’s not uncommon for luxury cars to see very few miles.
It’s not an awful build, but of course with any “bespoke” build like this there’s the risk that nobody else will actually like the custom work. Certainly not my cup of tea.
This is a nice car, dammit. One of M-B’s nicest large coupes, and I agree that this particular design holds up fine.
An actual only-marginally-useful El Camino bodystyle would kinda rule, actually. And the Aussies would snap them up.
Wildly uneven, but man, the good segments were really good.
That taillight is actually... not awful
