Yup. I don’t expect anyone else to, but I also cut her some slack for growing with super-Christian, super-conservative parents/pastors who reject who she is now. Childhood programming is a fucking hard thing to break.

I’ve never understood the appeal of tanning, but then again, for dark-skinned people like me the social pressure goes the other way (to be as fair as possible, with the help of skin lighteners that — you guessed it — also cause cancers.)
