Barack’s really captures him. Michelle’s looks like a sketch done by a freshman in high school.

I like them both - and I love that they’re not traditional. These aren’t dull, expected portraits, these are art.

I love Kehinde Wiley :( When I heard Obama chose him for the official portrait I thought it was such a classy move. I miss having a president with actual taste

She hates America, she hates Democracy, and she sure as shit hates the press asking her questions about her or her bosses methods. She does her job “well” because she agrees 100% with the decisions…

As an American, I hope I can help vote him out of office. I’m sure he wishes me to be successful with that.

Obama is about to get swallowed up in that wall of flowers, but there’s no doubt that’s an excellent portrait of him. Even his posture and demeanor are definitely Obama.

At first glance, I thought that was a painting of Olivia Pope. It looks unfinished for some reason. I love the dress she’s wearing in it though. I like this portrait of Obama better:

Do what you want with portrature style; find artists that have interesting abilities and style...

But for gods sake pick an artist who can make a painting *look* like the subject. If you were to just show me that portrait and say “who is this”....I’d be 100% lost, and Michelle Obama would be no where on the list....

I love everything about it - the vast white space, the dress, the pose: it’s an art history student’s dream, there’s so much to interpret/discuss.

What is going on with Michelle’s long alien fingers there? Also she looks so... blank. Her face is just...nothing. There’s no life to it.

Why is she gray? Why is she the shade of a No. 2 pencil sketch?

Cue Trump trying to defund the National Portrait Gallery in 3...2...

The only thing that looks about right in Michelle’s painting are those fabulous arms.

I would not recognize the picture of Michelle as actually being her if I didn’t already know beforehand.

Decades from now, young children will stare at Obama’s painting and ask “Moppa, what is that green stuff behind that man?”
