I’m not a resident but I am a fan of California and I worry about its future. The antiquated water rights system that allows individuals who gained these rights in a different time and circumstance to mortgage the future of the entire region in order to sell almonds to Asia for short term profits is a farce.

I get that, but the end result is so skewed (Latinos living in the border states will be excited to learn that there is no racism there) as to be meaningless. African Americans are not the only targets or racism and to suggest so is bizarre. It would be nice to put some sort of disclaimer in the post.

The people in these stories are inconsiderate assholes, but they’re also something worse than that. They’re a non-trivial cause of climate change.
