Please explain why you are such a big Mark Jackson fan.

That’s beautiful.
I swear there was another story about pedestrianism recently, but it looks like it was less recent than I thought. The previous stories are from 2015 and coincided with the publication of Matthew Algeo’s book “Pedestrianism: When Watching People Walk Was America’s Favorite Spectator Sport”.
Visited in August of 2017. It was awesome.
Goddammit, that still gets me.
I’m reading the new Neal Stephenson novel, and it’s so on point for some of this stuff. I’m recommending it to anyone who’s interested in this thread at all. Not to give anything away, but there’s an apotheosis of false news.
Are you reading “Fall, or Dodge in Hell” by Neal Stephenson right now, perchance? Your comment is obliquely related.
Interesting. I’ve been seeing some long-time commenters being sent to the grays, as well as a lot of accepted comments that I just want to reply “You must be new here”. I think you’re right about the cross-posting bringing in axe-grinders.
Actually, it seems like it’s not as big a deal as some think. This seems to be a more in-depth and accurate description of what will happen:
I’m not 100% on it, but I think it means they have something like 23 million in cap room instead of 30-32 million in cap room. It’s a combination of timing and Anthony Davis not waiving his trade retainer (he gets 4 million for being traded, I think). They need a minimum of 25 million to sign a max deal with a free…
Board man gets paid.
So is Fred VanVleet like my favorite player now? People speaking matter-of-factly and intelligently to reporters is a crazy low bar, I guess, but that’s where I am.
“Favored” only refers to the betting lines. Basketball-knowers thought that the Raptors were favored for a long time:
The only response is: “Would it kill you to play some fucking Fog Hat?”
Great prompt for an interesting thread. One of the things that is missing from the films is the overt internationalism of the 2nd generation of X-Men, as well as the loss of Cyclops as the “continuity character.” In the comics, the shift from the original 5 to the new ones really did lead to an incredible boost in…
It’s just so fucking weird, though. I didn’t really get beat up for playing D&D as a kid, but we weren’t exactly popular, you know? I still can’t wrap my head around how mainstream it is.
The national broadcast in the States on ABC explicitly claimed that the crowd was cheering for the injury, but that they kind of stopped when the Raptors players showed some solidarity with KD and gestured for the crowd to stop. So these guys you’re responding to are following the media’s lead on this. I’m going to go…
I don’t know Albert Burneko from Adam, but I’ve probably read every one of his columns in the last 5 years at least. There’s an element of satire in each one, even when he’s being earnest. It’s a tough line to walk, and he (mostly) pulls it off. Satire belongs in ephemera like these blogs. I know I’m a self-serious…
Ross Stripling, eh? I like the cut of his jib!
I totally agree, except it happened to me, which is why I hate my Honda Pilot. My old car didn’t turn on the lights on the odometer, etc. until the exterior lights were on. The Pilot doesn’t give a shit, so the thing that let me know my lights were on or off doesn’t matter any more. Stupid f-ing car.
