Define “real change” and explain how you think it will happen.
This seems like a very odd thing to post on io9, where the commentariat seems to live for hating on GRRM. From my perspective, more people in the comments section dislike the later books than like them. I am not one of them, but I won’t get into it.
Yeah—a great detour. I certainly preferred “Wolves” to “Song.”
No. “[T]he great American figure of the businessman-philanthropist” is a pernicious myth.
I think Wizard and Glass is the most amazing thing he’s ever written. It’s also one of the last things that his long-time reader did the audiobook for before the accident. Sorry, can’t remember the name and not checking right now. Very famous audiobook reader. Anyway, I’ve read it and listened to it multiple times,…
Hey there! I will always star a comment that gives love to Donaldson! I read the first Malazan book on his recommendation blurb. I didn’t like it at first. I couldn’t deal with the abrupt changes of character perspective. However, on my second reading, I really enjoyed it.
Thanks for posting this—seriously. I started and stopped several different comments and just decided not to get drawn in. “It’s shit” is not even valid criticism.
There is no moving on from the block. The block is all.

Yeah, I’ve been making these long posts about the block, myself. There’s just so much that goes into the few seconds that it lasts.
I can’t stop, either. He knows everything that’s happening and everything that *can* happen on the floor right there, and he’s reacting to one and preparing for the other(s).
It’s perfect athleticism—if you acknowledge the mental aspects of athleticism. What’s so impressive is the timing and the awareness. At first I was going to say that he knew more about what was going on than anyone on the floor—and while that is true, what struck me after watching this another 20 times is how he…
I squirmed at the replay, because the way the wrist flopped looked like it was moving around the bones and not around the joint. But then it didn’t seem so bad, and he was able to make a fist before the free throw. Still, I’m waiting to hear an official diagnosis.
“[Curry] had the misfortune of running into Kevin Love.” That was fantastic defense. Imagine if he played every game as if James had just threatened to sic Draymond Green on his balls (I assume).
Damn. Corinthian.
My comment was in reply to the guy bringing up Tony Gwynn. Just sayin’. It’s that flat Kinja threading striking again.
