My memories are quite fragile of it. I believe I saw it at the local independent cinema in ‘90 or ‘91. It was like the “5th Animation Celebration” or something? Anyway, I barely remember that bit, but we always quoted it. There was also the first Ren & Stimpy short, and a brilliant animation where they took Kirk

This is not Frank’s planet. Get your hand off my knee.

That’s not the point. Drew’s not even making the claim that people don’t talk like that. That people have talked like that, and that they continue to do so, is a given in the article. Therefore, you adding it as a “hey, don’t forget about this” addendum is rightfully scorned.

Nice:

No kidding.

Okay; wasn’t clear. Thanks for the reply.

No, it’s useful to compare a historical figure’s qualities to people of the same time as that historical figure. That’s what “of the time” means, unless you’re trying to mean “of the current time.” Anyway, Woodrow Wilson was really out there even for his time.

No. He uses other people’s dislike of him as evidence that he’s right. It’s circular narcissism. If they like him, it’s because of how good he is; if they don’t like him, bit’s because of how good he is. His fundamental assumptions about himself are unassailable.

I yelped “Manderly!” and then I deflated quickly.

Fare thee well, with steady winds and calm seas.

Also consider satellites. Obviously, perhaps people can understand why satellites don’t get upgraded as often, but really it’s impressive what they get out of older tech. Older tech isn’t bad, per se. That shit stays around because it works.

Yes. Yes, they are hot garbage. I remember getting into quite a few arguments with people explaining how there are things besides plot and setting that matter in crafting fiction. Prose matters, and oh, boy, character matters. Character is not created out of a few gender-specific tics that are repeated ad infinitum. I

Awesome, man. College is wasted on 20-year-olds.

Who do you think is going to be welding the spikes to the dune buggy? Friend of mine from high school got her BFA. She did a lot of welding for some installation pieces, and it was one of the many introductions I got to how bad-ass artists can be.

I had an opportunity to apprentice with a flooring guy just post High School. I was busy being an uptight college boy. I recently paid far too much money to a flooring guy.

It’s more than that. The other problem is that “the best”, even with a rubric, is hard to define. There is no “best” candidate, especially during the hiring process itself. The problem is the attitude that a “best” can be found. The perfect remains the enemy of the good.

I always said that if Donnie Darko had come out when I was 18, it would have been my favorite movie. As it was, I liked it in a weird kind of “I’m too old for this stuff now, but I remember what it was like not to be too old” way.

I get that; I was just hoping for a bit more information than just the speculation about it—especially because it’s not something like “die erste Avenger”. It’s just interesting that it’s been changed but not translated. I really expected some more snark either in the original post or the comments.

Seriously. I’m still in the greys here and I want to know what’s going on with those C.A. 3 trailers. They all say “Civil War: The First Avenger”. What’s going on with that?

Read the entire graphic waiting for punchline; was not disappointed.
