That’s not true if you look at old platforms. LX was derived from LH, which was 100% in-house work. LX added some DB bits to an already good, 100% Chrysler platform.

The other cars FCA makes now are mostly Fiat-based platforms, which is why the L-cars seem so different. Compare LX vs LH, though, and it’s more similar…

Same platform. It was called LC because they had to shorten the LX platform for the Challenger. Then changed the code to LA when they modded it to adopt a new tranny. DC did quite a bit of Benz parts recycling with the LX platform going back to the W124 platform.

I don’t know why so many people are complaining. If I lived up north, way north, this would be rather appealing. A cool looking car that can get you around all year. A manual would be neat to have, more so than the V8.
