No doubt those are prices with the smallest battery, made of unobtainium, at least to start, as with the Tesla Model 3 base model.

I will look forward eagerly to an EV cabriolet from Jaguar or anyone else.

Now playing

I remember first being distracted by Shania in this little video, which is a cloying tease, for sure, but undeniably hot. She knew how to play the princess, whether in jeans or leopardskin. But the message of “don’t impress me much” seems to be that there are things that count more to a woman than material wealth,

How about a 400 HP e-Golf? That would do nicely!

BS; any REAL SUV has a spare wheel and tire on the tailgate.

Every maker targets and promises lower than they can really go...

“Porsche also showed off the user interface for its new smartphone app, and what it’ll look like when the Taycan’s getting charged.”

The good news is, EVs can be made to perform way better than fossil powered cars, while using a fraction of the energy. Perform like a Porsche, pinch pennies like a Prius, and pack like a pickup.

Empty the trash...

I drive a Model 3 and a Model S, neither of which have autopilot software but the Model 3 has the hardware for it. Tesla enabled the software on my Model 3 for a two week trial period, so I got a bit of experience with it. It adds a follow-the-lines system to adaptive cruise control and has little or no awareness

Lithium abundance on Eaarth?

There are more than 200,000 Teslas charging at up to 120 kW all over the world right now. I haven’t heard of a single arc flash accident, and I own two so I’ve been attentive.

Weren’t SUVs (sold as “light trucks”) originally a way of skirting pollution control and safety feature requirements? And are they not now cars for old people who find it difficult to get in and out of a normal car? It seems akin to “single level living” for the infirm, which also goes to the push for self-driving

And that piece of crap is selling faster than the entire BMW line of cars, not to mention any other plug-in car. Go figure...

Why would steep depreciation increase insurance costs? Isn’t declaring a total wreck a way to limit insurance payouts?

No need; the torque is there without revving up. What you want is to disable traction control. An EV needs a clutch/transmission like a fish needs a bicycle.

Hating on SUVs is why I love Jalopnik. Those are cars for aging boomers whose arthritic joints somehow prefer to climb up into a seat. Maybe the rest of the world will see the light eventually. I drive Teslas and agree that conflating EVs with autonomous vehicles is a problem. But resistance to the iPad touch screen

Any chance these cars were driven at high speed through high water?

Well, it used to do, before global warming...

Once upon a time cars required a transmission and clutch because they were powered by engines that could only operate in a relatively narrow range of .rotation rate.
