Nice job of comparing the energy budgets for ICE and EV. Another perspective is that a Model 3 battery holds the equivalent of only about 2.3 gallons of gas. Any small energy savings is significant on such a budget.
You’re just a bit off on the Model 3. The aero covers are standard equipment on the 18" wheels, while the 19" wheels lack them. So standard equipment gives the owner a choice of whether to leave the aero covers on or remove them. I’m conflicted and may put them on for a long trip, but the 10 spoke wheels are…
Make sure you pronounce Tesla with a ‘z’, too!
Thanks for this. But don’t forget “Pollution”.
Maybe not. Maybe only Toyota products that have such a high (overblown?) reputation for reliability that it is very frustrating when they fail? Personally, I would have done a jump start by pushing the car in a situation like that...
Time warp: using this approach in 1974, I found a Dodge Colt (Mitsubishi) 2dr coupe with stick for $2795. According to the CPI, that would now cost $14,255, so the base price of cars has declined 50%!
Why do concept cars always have suicide back doors, and the real thing never does? Also, why are you using present tenses for something that is not available for 3-4 years?
Wait! What happened to the suicide doors?
Here’s my Model 3 / 3 Series comparison. Blow this up and tell me which has the better panel gaps. I have no complaints about either, but all the grousing about Model 3 panels seems like so much bunkum to me.
I’m disappointed that there is little or no tech talk here about the reason why Tesla cars are throttled and what Tesla or Porsche might do to overcome that. It has to do with cooling a rotor that has no connection to the outside world except for its drive shaft. Tesla may already have solved this problem with its…
Yeah, electricity is SO scarce and hard to find!?
Look how well it’s working for Nissan!
I guess you didn’t get word that an electric motor doesn’t have an optimal RPM range that requires a transmission, or a clutch? It doesn’t get better than direct drive, believe me.
The cop was waiting so he could cut across into a lane to the left of the lane he was in. According to the book, that should be done after entering the lane one flows into naturally, while moving forward, by merging. Too many people, and apparently also cops, don’t know how to go with the flow, and end up hampering…
I guess I’m older than all you guys. One of these was always ready to roll, taunting me, at a seaside home that was on our landscape maintenance and mowing route, back in the 60s.
smalleyxb122, as an owner of one of each, that’s not necessarily fair. The Model S is a fabulous highway cruiser, but it will never feel like a Model 3 on a windy road or city street. Getting a Performance version helps, but the Model 3 is smaller, lighter, more firmly suspended, and more maneuverable. It’s the…
What the world needs now, is an EVette to blow the doors off the Porsche Mission E.
This is a great idea for reeling in BMW buyers!
You don’t have to stand by your EV holding the spigot the entire time, ya know...
