Northwest Louisiana.. I say that because the Shreveport area is more culturally aligned to Texas than Louisiana.
I'm not a Louisiana native, but from an outsider's perspective it seems as though the people here want to be a part of the culture that exists further south. This area doesn't have the history though so it all feels manufactured. That and this part of the state is way too conservative to try and match even Lafayette.
Nope.. I lurk around here quite often and post every once in awhile - usually photos and tales of my adventures outside of Shreveport on Oppo.
I'm well aware.. Fortunately I work remotely for a company in Metairie so I get to leave Far East Texas and head into true Louisiana quite often.
Shreveport, because we're not really Louisiana anyway
Great museum... I visited last year and was impressed with their collection. Here are some shots I got during my visit:
Because the last thing you want when attempting a getaway is a hop-on...
Here's the best I could find in my collection:
Here's some photos I snapped with the naughty bits exposed (some reposted from my oppo post here):
I live in Shreveport and I'll be going to check it out next week. I'll report back with pictures and whatever intel I can get my hands on.
I have always thought of this as the next step beyond auto-dimming mirrors... Auto-dimming windows
As a Shreveport resident, I'm hoping it isn't vapor. Even if it is vapor, I won't complain too much as long as their 1,500 employees aren't vapor as well.
I was referring to the public K-12 schools here in the area - we have no quality higher education in Shreveport and that is a bit disappointing. I moved here about ten years ago from a smaller city in Missouri that had a major university and (other than the casinos) there were a lot more entertainment options back…
I live in Shreveport and we have more casinos here than anywhere else in the state and they are building a new one scheduled to open next year (Margaritaville... I'm not sure what in Shreveport inspired that choice - we're not exactly a Jimmy Buffet type of town). I couldn't tell you where the money goes - some of it…
Hey now.. I live in Louisiana and... well.. I'd have to agree. We have too many miles of interstate to maintain in places that don't matter (Shreveport - which will have three interstates running through it within the next 20 or so years) and the maintenance costs keep us from building highways in the places that do…
I'm going to vote for New Orleans. Not much in the way of elevation changes, but there's plenty of history and some beautiful urban scenery. Watching an Indy-style rolling start down Canal Street would just be fantastic.
Louisiana checking in... I filled up today for $40.89 (~12.5 gallons @ 3.249). I'm a big fan of Murphy's Wal-Mart card discounts. I'm not sure how it works elsewhere, but $0.15 off per gallon is going to add up for the next few months. Prices have been fairly steady for the past few weeks although some stations are…
Last one I promise... There's something just a little eerie about the way a B2 just floats through the air - it is almost alien in its appearance and the way it moves.
