I’d say problems like this come from cost cutting to a cheaper material than a tried-and-true material and they over estimated the lifespan of the new material.

Nobody is asking them to sit on the lot, at least make them available for order if youre going to offer it on a lower trim.
Yes, you can, which is why I gave it an example. But some things, like cruise assist, emergency braking, and most oddly cylinder deactivation, are not available on the manual.
Sasha from On Point Dyno in Toronto won a Global Time Attack event in a Model 3. He was then promptly disqualified after a protest. The regulations said the engine may use any fuel type....his didnt use fuel...or have an engine...so disqualified.
I want to say Challenger Hellcats are over 40% on the take rate for manuals, despite the A8 being quicker. It just goes to show that in a “fun” car people still want to row their own gears.
4k is rough. If it were an $800 option like you see on a lot of cars where poverty spec is manual and they upcharge you $800 for an auto, thats fair. But there has NEVER been a delta that high to go from manual to auto. Maybe in the very early days, if you adjusted for inflation, but in the last 40 years? No way. I’d…
Yes. I want a Hellcat with all the bells and whistles but a manual. (as an example)
You cant get cylinder deactivation, cruise distance assist, or emergency braking on ANY car with a manual. Why cant I have heated seats, the nice radio with bluetooth, HIDs, AND a manual in a basic car?
I think you completely swung and missed on his comment. Hes saying there would be more manual transmission sales if you could get the manual with higher trim levels. Unfortunately many drivers wont give up a bluetooth radio and heated seats to get a manual these days and thus it looks like “nobody wants manuals” when…
Well, it really only happened in gently driven vehicles in cold climates, they released a TSB and revised parts...what more do you expect them to do?
My mom has a 2014 TDi Sportwagen she bought new. Only problem it has had was as known (and subsequently fixed with updated part under warranty) issue where the intercooler fills with water. Condensation in cold weather leads to the low point, the intercooler, filling with water, then freezing. I dont know what the fix…
TDi is the exception.
I think its worth pointing out this is on the bellhousing side of the engine, not the front. Engine out chains!
I’m glad life is so great right now that these are the only problems we have to tackle.

Why do I love poverty spec vehicles so much?
Depending on the sizes, you may have limited options. Go look up tire sizes for a 97 Viper. There is currently only one option available, Michelin Pilot Sport PS2. For a handful of years Kumho was the only one making tires in the size. Some times you just gotta make due.
I’m genuinely curious what goes wrong and if it could easily be remedied with modern equivalent components.
Michael Caine intensifies.
That is gorgeous.
Luckily you can probably get it retrimmed in quality leather for less than two grand. If you just keep saving a little every month for repairs, eventually youll have that interior refinishing money and you can make it tippity top.
