I had a rusty 1997 I picked up off of a neighbor. It had a 5-speed on the four cylinder. It also had four wheel independent suspension. It was fun until it melted an oxygen sensor pre-heater and much of the in-dash wiring harness with it. There’s also a surprise waiting for anyone who spills a drink from the cup

My all time favorite one. I should probably pick another one up as my kid made off with the one I’ve had since I was a kid.

Seconded. I loved mine. Some chowderhead rear-ended me in stopped traffic. Get the SE and get the white-faced gauges.

That was a Torino here in the states. Or at least as near as you can get to it.

My ‘87 had the EFI badge and ABS on the rear brakes only. TBI (Throttle Body Injection) was horrible.

I kinda like these badges. They add character to otherwise dull and uninspired cars. They’re also fun in junkyards when you catch the manufacturer in a lie. My ‘84 Tempo said 5-Speed on the trunk lid, but only had 4 forward gears. Maybe Ford was counting reverse as a speed?

I learned in a ‘77 Pinto wagon, but I had lots of clutch experience before that on dirt bikes. I graduated from the Pinto to a couple of column-shifted cars; a ‘61 Falcon and a ‘76 Comet. 3 in the tree FTW!

This. In 1978, my parents needed a car and my mom wouldn’t settle for another used one. They dragged me and my younger sister out to try out cars. The very first one we tried was the Chevette. I was 11 and my sister was 6 and NEITHER of us had enough leg room in the back. Granted, this was the 2-door, but still. The

I love these things. The engine is a giant, malevolent exclamation point. The frame is like a fiberglass bow. The brakes are a suggestion. For me it added up to one of the scariest experiences I’ve ever had on two wheels. Riding one of these things makes you appreciate how like a light switch most two-stroke power

Our ‘97 Grand Marquis started leaking at 105,000 and we paid out of pocket. I believe if it would have failed 5,000 miles earlier, Ford would have picked it up. The replacement manifold has lasted longer that the crappy original one.
