“No, I don’t think you could say that.”

Double murder, huh? Well, professional baseball may be out of the question now, but he could always be a Super Bowl MVP.

It looks to me like the umpire is taking Lynn’s lunch order.

Yeah, but a starting lineup generally has 9 lineman positions, right? Based on 22 starting not-kickers, seems to me 40% is actually right in line with what you’d expect given a random sample. (9/22 being 40.9% and all.)

It also means that nearly half of the players who believed they were suffering symptoms and submitted to the study were linemen. Patterns in self-selection can be suggestive when they’re part of a broader system.

The Redskins can’t even be number 1 in awful field maintenance. We are truly a losing organization.

Well Jim was a lot less mean to Jamal then Phil was to everyone in the Bronco’s organization except Peyton Manning. Manning is BETTER THEN EVER. it is everyone else in the system that is FAILING HIM!!

Can anyone explain why they keep trying to put Manning under the center and not in a no huddle offense? Wasn’t the question of whether or not this works answered years ago? So long as you aren’t in the post season you should be set.

KC was the much better team tonight. As a follow-up to the Ravens game, Manning looked like December-January Manning. And Denver won. I’ll never be happy.

See, I had a similar experience as you, but I went the other way with it. Every time someone popped up who was just an uppity asshole bent on making me cry at work (which seriously happened about 5x a day at least), I resolved not to let any of these douchestains get to me and would go into like super-helpful-friendly

My son just started working in food service at a large fast food chain, in the SF bay area.
I’ve seen an awakening in him that no school or talk from me could have created. He “gets it” in a way that could only have come from experiencing it.

I started a new job at a high-end supermarket chain as a manager in their IT department, 6 figure pay, managing software developers. My first two weeks on the job were spent working in one of their stores, every department. On day one I was stocking frozen food. On day two I worked in the deli. On day three I helped

The #1 Lesson I took away: Don’t be in such a hurry. Customers are usually in a needless hurry for no real reason. Unless you’re an EMT, firefighter, or other first-responder who hurries because it’s necessary; there usually isn’t a reason to be in such a huge rush for your service that you are a jerk to the retail

called a customer “a worthless trophy wife cum dumpster” in front of her kids

Ah i used to love the “Ill never shop here again people’.

That’s.. not really something to be proud of, there.

You sound like an overgrown child. Retail ain’t pretty, but most adults can suffer it with at least a touch of class.

Good article, my wife still works a weekend retail position at a small pet supply store. The boss is an idiot and losing his business, and she gets a few crazies who think they deserve discounts just for being alive, but she loves being able to help people, and there are good regulars.

I don’t understand people who

When I first started reading this article I was skeptical of the tone it would take. I should have realized that wouldn’t cut it on Lifehacker, so instead of pulling a TL;DR I kept reading.

I kinda agree with “everyone should work retail or service at least once in their lives” but I say everyone should work retail AND as a waiter/waitress early in their lives. When working retail you typically only have to deal with people for a minute or two at most and you learn that the world is full of idiots (which
