What about all the writing on walls? You know, “Live Love Laugh” etc.

Good luck to you! I was very happy in Silver Spring. I think it’s exactly where a young family should go. Look at subdivisions off Georgia Avenue, for instance.

I second Zabella re Silver Spring. I lived there and would go back. I have also lived in Virginia, and would say no to that. I did all my shopping and appointments in Rockville, Columbia, and Baltimore—MUCH easier than getting around in NoVa. And no, it’s not at ALL soul-crushing! And I think with small children,

But what is upscale? Just a nicer location, maybe within a full-service salon, better lotions, thicker carpets?

Oh, you just reminded me! I got the nod and smile from MADELINE ALBRIGHT!!

I got the frozen treatment from Jon Stewart in NY. And all I did was give a half-smile, as I would to anyone else.

Thank you for saying this. I have remake ennui in general, but this new development is just really really unnecessary.

This makes me ecstatic. I CAN’T STAND HIM. I would plan my driving on Saturdays so as to miss his show and the one about cars.

I’ve had a membership for more than 10 years! In that time I’ve been to (also) maybe 10 different locations and have found therapists to whom I’ve been loyal. Some I’ve been to for years.

Can’t really comment as I go to an actual mall about once a year, but hi to a fellow St. Louisan!

Oh, what was I saying here?? Oh—maybe that to protest such that the mall was closed (although briefly) was counter-productive to the effort, when the mall employs a lot of POC since it’s close to public transportation. Yes, it was clumsy.

Well, it’s easier for people to get to jobs at that particular mall using public transportation. Therefore a lot of POC are employed there.

A commenter wrote that there was little to no local coverage of this protest. I sent three links of local coverage, with a benign introductory comment, and I get flagged and dismissed?

Here is some local coverage:

The thing is (or “a” thing). . . the mall in suburban St. Louis where the protest was held (private property, by the way, which is why the police came) is a huge employer of POC, and is heavily shopped by that population as its accessible by Metrolink. Other large malls are further out. Not the same as POC-owned, but

I would not say the majority of 1%ers children mix with others—they are at private schools. But maybe the top 20%, very very “comfortable”, basic rich, not mega-rich, who are at public schools, mix. And as many commenters are saying, the demographics can be poor to upper middle class. And you’re right—most of us don’t

I scrolled down to say this same thing. I bought her highly touted and really cheap and disappointing highlighter set and am still finding pieces of the gold sequins that the *extremely* well sealed bag held. It enraged me at the time and the product was terrible. I have written about it here before, on beauty

In The New Yorker, no less.

Oh, excuse! I thought I saw orange in the top picture.

I mainly comment on the TV show recaps, and, while politics do creep in, it’s not the focus and I am really not knowledgeable enough to comment.
