I'd add its dumb to vote simply to vote. An ill unformed vote isn't democracy, it's a popularity contest. Voting to vote means you're following what you have been told to vote rather than taking the time to actually read a bit in the people and issues on the ballot. 

The right is to defend your self, not necessarily the means of doing so.
