The response to that piece was really shocking to me, but I guess the commenters just proved Kara’s point about women who identify as feminists but cannot see beyond the narrow scope of their white privilege, so unwilling to listen when a woman of color speaks about her experience. It’s so fucking depressing.

I am an attorney, but I’m not going to pretend to be an expert on the constitutional issues raised. The lawyers that I follow on twitter with more experience don’t seem to give it much hope. They seem to think it is mostly a PR exercise.

Most were saying, “Not this white woman,” or “No one I know!” I’d say, “[Fifty-three percent] of white women voted for Trump. That means someone you know, someone who is in close community with you, voted for Trump. You need to organize your people.”

The CREW suit has two massive hurdles to pass in demonstrating standing and convincing the court not to dismiss this under the political question doctrine. Both could get the case kicked before any kind of discovery into Trump’s tax returns is permitted.

*sigh*

“Oh, I’m so ashamed.” Don’t be ashamed; organize your people.

Bawse.

What say you, cheerleaders?

Agreed. Yes, the marching was a great way to signal President Comacho that nobody likes him. But at the same time the real work is yet to come. I have a few FB friends who are doing that 10 actions in 100 days thing and I’m glad to see it.

“Ain’t I A Woman, Too?

Aimée, it’s “Brookline” and I used to work at a dance studio in that town back when I was in college so I’m not surprised. It’s filled with elitist parents whose children were precious little snowflakes (at least where I worked at), who thought that Boston was a lawless wasteland they were afraid to trek to

I’M RUNNING! And from this point forward in history, no one is ever allowed to say, “but you’re not qualified!” because of Donald Fuckface Trump. If HE can be POTUS, I can very well run for county board or some other higher office. I want to personally take Peter Roskam DOWN.

I don’t see running for office in my own future, but at least all this talk is getting me to consider it. And it’s getting me excited to support women who do run locally (Gretchen Witmer for MI governor in 2018, woot!!)

Either way, the first step is getting involved somehow. Once you know the local players in the Democrat party, you’ll be in a better position to gauge support for your own run, and to identify offices that are more accessible to you. For example, getting a seat on city council is probably more realistic than

Hello! I’m from Cambridge, MA and am in a similar position. Start making friends and becoming involved. Apply to join boards and commissions while volunteering for other elections. It’s a slow gradual climb but become involved. I will not be here forever, but I am gaining some skills and knowledge that will be useful

All of this is hard and takes valuable time...

I’ve been saying for months that Trump is literally a comic book villain.

It’s called satire. I’ll admit it’s subtle, but try to keep up.

Plagiarism does not only mean lifting words directly from someone else. The uncredited use of someone else’s ideas is also plagiarism. Ever written a college paper? Because pretty much any professor will tell you that.
