The movie handled what it needed to tell you just fine. It gives you as much info as ANH does. The thing is now most people watching ANH go in with all the knowledge ahead of time and don’t realize what isn’t spoon fed to them. If that movie came out today it would be OBLITERATED. CGI is great if done right. This movie did it right. They also did a TON of practical effects work, which has been focused on in other videos. This video is focusing on the VFX.

The whole point he was making is that the dumb complaints people have about TFA can be answered as well.

Donnie Darko was a specific movie that did what it wanted to do well. Please don’t try and act like this was anything like it. The story was easy to understand unless you purposely looked for nit-picks.
