I'm from Illinois (which I considered Midwest), but after moving to Colorado I discovered people refer to this state as the "Midwest," too.

I think that when it starts happening to white men, as a rule rather than an exception, then people will take this seriously. But not until then.

I was really hoping for a scathing retort/mic drop moment for Mike Karlson.

Haha. What a stupid thing to say. My fiance's suit will be easily $500, and my dress was $250. Because I looked for a bargain. And my fiance (sorry, "finances") did not.

Awesome piece. Thanks for writing this, Anna, and so sorry you have to go through this.

I suppose we can look forward to gratuitous Megyn Kelly stories, perhaps placed strategically near posts about the wonderful, liberal, feminist Pope.

God, I love the fashion in this show. They did an amazing job, imo, of showing Cookie's post-prison transformation. I mean, she did look ridiculously good for having just been released- a bit tough to swallow- but her style is on-point now that she's officially Lucius' nemesis. Love everything about this show! Except

Well, the alternative is for our elected officials to have some understanding of science, and the people whom their policies impact. Since that is a pipe dream, I guess we have to be content with this...

"I have sat with women..."

Nor I.

I wish I was offered 10K to abort my fetus, which I'd do anyway. I'm not getting the outrage- it's not like she was coerced, and clearly she did not feel she had to go through with his wishes against her own.

I know, I really hate this narrative. It reminds me of how Jez and Gawker like to tongue-bathe the Pope for taking the time to wrap up the same old shit in a shiny new box.

Eh, it's not like the "Republican females" wouldn't have backed the bill had it been brought to a vote. Even Ellmers said something to the effect of, "make no mistake, I'll back this bill." So, perhaps Republicans already have their house in order.

Maybe because she is constantly making jokes about her body? Maybe because people like laughing at fat jokes when a fat person makes them? I'm not sure this equates to a "more successful" comedian, but I like Rebel, so... I'll accept what she says here at face value.

I did not have this experience, thankfully, because I did not invite any of my aunts dress shopping. That should probably be a rule of thumb.

It always disgusts me that these people have so little self-awareness, they'd say something like that to a coworker.

Nothing you're saying has anything to do with my comment, though. The point is that this girl is saying it's okay to hand out shirts with the letters on them- then turns around and says, "it was obviously not okay to give this black guy a shirt." There are a lot of implications to that statement and thought process.

Yeah, sometimes I like it too- I'm looking at you, Top of the Lake. But there was something really sad, too, in Branaugh's character and the spare way his house looked. It was a very visceral feeling and I did not like.

Hiddleston, really! I didn't know he was in it- I may give it another try. I stopped watching after seeing the pilot because that show is just so utterly bleak.

Didn't he get the memo that men are not supposed to wear jewelry?! (Unless they are Ryan Gosling).
