My worst experience with them was when the whole company (around 30) did those and we broke into our groups.
The head guy reminded me a lot of Michael Scott and he made sure to point out how important his group was to the company and made quite a few negative comments about the others.

I’ve always pushed back on the pre employment personality tests for the reasons you listed, but can’t get the rest of management to drop them. We don’t even use them consistently. They either confirm our decision to hire, or they’re treated as an outlier and we make an offer anyway.
