Hey, thanks! I was trying to think of a contemporary example, because my mind will always go to that red headed dude who bailed on NYPD Blue for movies, and ended up working boat shows for twenty years before one of the six trillion CSI shows rescued him from the bin.

Big Love started with almost 5 million viewers and ended its run with about 1.5 million viewers. The Leftovers peaked in its first season at around 1.5 million viewers, and is now down to about three quarters of a million viewers. I believe that the only HBO show to ever make it three seasons with less of an audience

I'm sad because now we're losing Erlich and TJ Miller, since TJ Miller is going to continue being famous for about five minutes and then disappear forever.

These guys have nailed every musical cue for three seasons, so I can see why they started feeling invincible, but trying to steal the Big Love theme song and make it a Leftovers moment was an absolute crash and burn. I was supposed to be cringing at the open heart surgery, and instead I was just cringing at the audio

I thought the incestuous nudie magazines were a bit of self awareness on Reed's part. His shows always die from self molestation; the in-jokes and dead horse callbacks take over more and more of the show until the only ones who can enjoy the story are the people actually writing it. Archer has moved in that direction

That is a great list. You guys know your television.
