If you never knowingly partake in any art made by people who aren’t very good humans, you are depriving yourself of an awful lot of culture. In fact, given that hundreds of people work on any given film, some of whom are probably shitty people, how do you ever watch any movie at all?

Q: How do you think the press is going to treat this woman?

I’m a feminist. But I still watch and enjoy Woody Allen movies. You can enjoy the art that shitty people make. Infact most people who make great things are usually pretty shitty people. I get if people can’t always disconnect though.

It’s really well written. It nails the way people actually speak. I get that’s cool to hate on anything that was nominated for an Oscar (other than Moonlight, that gets a pass) but Lonergan is a pretty great writer.

Old German proverb: Dummheit schützt vor Strafe nicht. (stupidity doesn’t protect from punishment)

Not enough kids are dead. Plus they’re black. And it’s in California. Isn’t that part of Mexico?

I had to wait through part of a Gwen Stefani ad for Revlon before I could watch this, which reminded me even more of what a true innovator, true artist and true weirdo Kate Bush was to me in the 80's and 90's. No offense to Gwen.

Kate Bush is amazing for a lot of reasons. She is truly what you call a groundbreaking artist. She was one of the first people to really get into doing music videos and she went at it like an experimental artform, which is why a lot of her early ones are trippy cheap things, they were just trying stuff out. She also

She only did one tour previously (1979, even before I was born). She announced a residency in London in 2014 which was a huge deal and all dates sold out completely in 15 minutes. People flew from all over the world (including myself who came from Toronto). Those are the only 2 times she toured. She never really cared

You’re 27 so you’ve probably heard the song by Placebo “Running up that Hill”(if not look it up it’s amazing) well she is the one who wrote it and performed it originally. I hadn’t really heard of her either until the post yesterday but it seems like she really was a woman before her time and would fit in perfectly

Don’t forget Wuthering Heights - and the tribute video:

So what you’re saying is you’re clueless and proud?

She was a mega star in England, very much less so here, although she definitely has some pretty die-hard fans (me being one of them - I was OBSESSED with Kate in High School while everyone else was getting into Nirvana.)

“I’m baffled by the sudden rabid fandom”

Listen to The Kick Inside. Then watch the videos for Babooshka, Wow, and Suspended in Gaffa. Then listen to Hounds of Love top to bottom. That should do the trick.

I’m not sure what that is, a fancy department store?

It’s an age thing, which is too bad because Kate Bush is a genius. Eccentric and reclusive and travel-phobic and performing-shy, so the people worldwide who have actually seen her perform live probably number in the thousands.

This thread is dumb and has to stop. The YouTube vid should be helpful. Kate Bush is amazing and not like tori Amos whatsoever at all. She paved the way for a lot of women doing experimental pop in the U.K. in the 80s. Like if you don’t know her why post this comment just ignore this article? And no it’s not a white

Of course she would never have gone to coachella, that festival is not worthy of her.
