You could always play at lower settings, or below native resolution. Heck, even windowed instead of full-screen. You'll still have the benefits of the extra screen real estate.

There are many more uses to a screen than gaming. Coding, photo editing, office work and more do not require a state-of-the-art GPU. In fact, pretty much any gpu will do - including budget models. It's all about the extra pixels and the extra surface area.

I was speaking about monitors for desktops. For laptops, I have a little bit more understanding.

I don't get why everyone got stuck at 'Full HD'. 2560px wide is an incredible improvement, and such screens have been available for years now. It's time to move on, and it would be the next logical step.
