Maybe you’ve rolled your eyes at the modern interpretation of Tom Nook, Animal Crossing’s capitalist overlord. You know, the one where people try to say that it’s totally OK that he’s saddling you with crushing debt and perpetual house upgrades you don’t want, all while hand-waving away the fact that he wields a

It’s bizarre how Tom Nook gets so much hate. Most NPC’s won’t give you anything unless you give them the money right then. Tom Nook says ‘Here’s this stuff, pay me back whenever’ and never even bugs you about it. And so many people /hate/ that.

No matter what else you think about her or what awful things she’s done, the rumor about her nonexistent illiteracy *is* sexist and doesn't make sense and isn't funny, and I don't know why Jezebel is obsessed with repeating it, but it's old.

Do all you idiots who are still making fun of illiteracy think you are being original? Also why would you want others to think you believe such nonsense?

People saying that breadfruit tastes bland needs to be forced to eat unseasoned, baked chicken or plain tofu for a year. Y’all a lot of things taste bland without spices, salt and oils.

There things called spice and oils that can improve it probably. Seasonless chicken taste awful. So does tofu.

I think most men would be completely shocked both by how young girls are when this sort of behavior starts happening to them, and by how pervasive it is throughout our lives. I once asked a boyfriend of mine (we were both in our early 30s) how old he thought I was when I started receiving unwanted sexual attention

Characters can rebel all they want, it doesn’t mean those in charge are going to tell them what’s going on. What kind of leader would Holdo be if she said “oh, you think you know better than me? Well, I guess you do! Here’s the information you want.”

We, the audience, knew that 1) it was a movie and that 2) Poe Dameron was one of the heroes of the movie. We knew he was a good guy and, insubordinate hotshot or not, he was getting the job done. And so it’s easy to look at Holdo and say “why did she risk everyone’s safety by not telling Poe or any of our other

On Holdo: My headcanon was that the Rebels have a typical top-down chain of command that you’ll find in many militaries*: The plans were shared, just not to hotshot fighter jocks. And why should they, especially if they mutinied?

The luddites were driven to the destruction of technology not because they were against progress, but because the wheels of capitalism were crushing them. Without them, child labor might still be legal.

You could have not paid it off and then you wouldn't be so pissy that someone else got something you didn't get?

Haven’t loan payments been suspended for the whole time Biden has been in office?

Don’t underplay this.

Long lines? It’s August 2022, you don’t need to wait in line to get vaccinated. Put a mask on your kid and go to literally any pharmacy and get vaccinated. No lines involved.

The moment when Daenyrs decides to murder an entire city full of people who had surrendered for reasons.

Part of the problem is that the book has very little drama. It’s playful and silly and has plenty of heart, which I love, but Hollywood demands a certain amount of confrontation and action that the book just doesn’t have. So they force in some weird dramatic bits that don’t have the same character as the book and it

Counterpoint - no, it’s not. It was mediocre then and mediocre now. A stunning waste of a talented cast.

Made from genuine gorilla chest?

“Suicide Squad, but a different Suicide Squad, but it’s mostly the same people. That Harley still dated the Joker, but not the Joker from Joker... which we’re making a sequel to.”
