I taught in STEM. We had a policy that homework and short-answer tests will be red-lined for grammar but the math and comprehension makes the grade, and long-form reports and essays will have 3%-5% for grammar and writing.

My favorite are the one who would kill your grade on grammar but can’t be bothered to talk through the content of your work to make sure your understanding of the materials.

I’ve been an adjunct that taught basic and graduate levels of courses in a STEM field, and Black students overall seemed to be averaging lower grades than other groups.
