Yeah, I'm kind of worried that there's been so much hype that I'll expect it to be a lot better than it is and then be very disappointed.

Well, I am all for lit and pop culture that explores sociological issues! In general I'm sort of a lit snob, but I grew up loving Harry Potter and have grown to appreciate "lighter" fare as entertainment for trips and what not.

Have not read the books or seen the movies, but I will say that pretty much every movie should have more Jesse Williams.

I love Edith. I relate to her quite a bit, to be perfectly honest, and don't care for Mary at all. The idea of Sybill was great, but the portrayal of her was boooriiing.

Rape apology is excusing the rape and the rapist. The victim was asking for it, the victim caused it, it was not "legitimate" rape. As someone said in an earlier response to you, the term "apology" in this sense is based on the historical context of creating an argument, not asking for forgiveness…

The 2012 US election season alone felt like a parade of rape apologists. Search "rape apology" or "slut shaming" or "rape rape" on this site and you'll see far too many examples of rape apologists in action.
