It still has to be a reasonable belief, no matter how dumb the law. Short of McKnight actually touching the driver side door, it shouldn’t be reasonable. But a cop just walked on a mistrial after having video evidence he shot an unarmed fleeing person in the back, so reasonableness isn’t necessarily a given anymore.

Short of a pretty ironclad self defense case with a boat load of corroborating witnesses, how the fuck is this guy not in custody? The motive, and what they charge him with, are somewhat irrelevant at this point unless he was reasonably defending himself.
