We have this car in Europe for some time now. It's hopeless.

This guy above just cracked it.
What is the AFR of a cold engine running on idle compared to a cold engine running under light load? I am pretty sure a stone cold engine running zero load on idle runs much richer than while on the move.
Now, you don't need to idle for a half hour, but a few minutes just to get the fluids a bit thawed out is not a bad idea at all. Have a stick shift? Have you ever felt how sluggish the stick feels on a really cold morning? Think about all the components inside that housing, and how they're doing. Let the car have a…
I believe they were direct UK-only replacements of Opels since early 70's. Specifically since the Victor FE (AKA Opel Rekord) was introduced, differences were rather in the trim than in the actual car. It got downhill from there.
C'mon, you didn't get to buy Opels through "internal export trade companies" like they used to be set up in Eastern bloc countries? We could buy them in Poland. Not that anyone did.
The Star 200-series cabin was exported to Hungary (where this photo comes from, I believe) and fitted to a Csepel truck there. So while it is possible it is a genuine Star, it might be as well a local Csepel (which happened to use the cabins from the competitive Polish Jelcz trucks as well).
Also, the Fiat know-how was…
You are certainly a bit behind the schedule in catching up with this thread. http://blackflag.jalopnik.com/fair-enough-th…
The only reason for a British customer leaving the dealership with an Eastern model was their low price, but as the BBC found out in 1986, buyers of the "luxury" Lada Riva would have been better off with a second hand Vauxhall.
10 years ago it used to be much, much cheaper. I got mine for half that price. I traded it for an E30 M3 BMW and this started another obsession of collecting the 3-series. Could've ended up worse.
Fair enough.
Tried so much to show my love for a ST185 Celica CS I once had, but failed miserably. Also didn't take int account the fact, that this spot was used so often to take photos at. I bury myself under the feeling of guilt. :/
Your brain, unfortunately, is fake
I will reach out to Toyota to ask them if their photographers tried to recreate the situation.
Thank you, Capt’n Obvious.
Do you really believe Toyota ran an 1987 Supra AND a 1991 Celica in the same rally? Or did the locals ALWAYS make the same pose during a rally for 4 years straight in hope the photogs will try to recreate a situation?
These are the same people on the same day (one tall guy missing on the Celica photo).
Yes, sir. Absolutely, sir.
I'm all with you regarding the wagons, this is where Mercedes/AMG has left us stranded. Unfortunately for me, BMW did it as well (I personally would buy the E39 M5 Touring in an instant).
We've run all these cars through Affalterbach, and while this is some tedious work (they do not have the data in digital form as the cars are from before MB merger), thanks to having two sets of VIN (one from factory MB and one from AMG) the status and history of each of the cars can be traced very well.
