“as all good gearheads should.”
“I don’t understand this modification/culture, therefore everyone else should also hate it!”
Btw Rob as a tire salesman please stop saying Connies, if you feel the need to shorten Continental the industry refers to them as Contis
$500+ a month on a car payment is not normal. It’s people living beyond their means that is normal.
I don’t get it, either. I’ve got a pretty high salary and only one kid, and I’m still usually looking at used stuff in the $20K-30K range. Then again, people seem to talk like $500+ a month for a car is normal, so I guess I’m just out of touch.
The SMG is not as bad as the ‘enthusiast’ groupthink would have you believe. It’s the same 6 speed ‘box as the 6MT only it engages the clutch for you. What this means is that if you drive it clumsily it can be clunky, but when shifting hard on the redline, its fast as hell. Once you learn that the throttle input is…
Judging from the comments, I have the ugliest duckling e46 m3 out there: SMG, grey interior, well over 120k miles. My car has no sunroof, no harmon kardon, and manual (but heated!) seats. Before buying my car I drove a loaded 6MT and hated it. The electric seats sit too high, the shift throw was vague and the clutch…
Think of it as a really expensive vacation to Maui. At least you don’t have to rent a car.
lol Yeah I’ve heard of that. At least it’s just nuts, bolts, and time standing in your way of getting to it. On the one hand, you shouldn’t have to replace the starter all that often, on the other hand it’s being baked pretty much all the time.
That’s how you know Married With Children was fiction. An old Dodge still ran.
This will always be the correct answer. A proper N/A banshee screaming inline-6, proper 6 speed manual gearbox, proper curb weight, acceptable reliability and damn good looks mixed with enough modern tech to not dilute the driving experience. The E46 M3 SHOULD ALWAYS BE THE EFFING ANSWER !!
It’s S54 btw.
It is very, VERY misleading to act like the auto industry “did nothing” about emissions. The difference in vehicle emissions from 1979 to 1989 is astonishing, and the amount of money and time that was spent on R&D was incredible. Only someone ignorant would claim they “did nothing”.
Dude, Farah was hot, and so is the ZR1.
As far as I’m concerned this is the best “coast to coast race” movie. It wasn’t overrun with celebrity cameos and had cars that were actually cool. There wasn’t much in the way of a real plot, but at least the movie wasn’t trying too hard to have one in the first place. It’s refreshing to find a movie where there can…
While it has plenty of flaws that keep it from being a great movie, this is one of a tiny minority of films that treat cars with respect and love without being boring or geeky about them. The start in New York is just glorious. For years, my Windows start sound was the Daytona leaving the garage: “Off” followed by…
Hahaha, that’s awesome.
This movie was great, so many cool moments, with that Ferrari and Cobra especially.
Wile E. Coyote ain’t got nothing on Lapchik the Hungarian. That guy never quit.
