I’m torn, in that I don’t see the humor or need for Dave’s performance. At the same point, he should be allowed to do his act and if people want to watch it they should be allowed to. I dunno.

I love and support the folks who share their thoughts on how Dave’s performance hurts them, disappoints them.  To me, that's how the discourse is supposed to work. You say yours, I say mine.

Why is he talking to the gay and trans community as though we are diametrically opposed to the Black community?

Youtuber/Streamer Etika would beg to differ. He got “cancelled” by his followers for “seeking attention” by acting as if he was going to take his own life multiple times due to bouts of depression, and apparently some of those were just for pretend and he was never in any danger, but after the repeated backlash

“Cancel Culture” money is big money. There’s a huge profit motive for celebrities with 0 shame or incapable of handling criticism shout “Cancel Culture” and whine when they are even lightly criticized for being an asshole. People flock to the content in question, discourse is had, and in the end the celebrity’s

Why is he the only Canadian without beady eyes and a floppy head?

Who sells albums anymore?

I mean, all these metrics should be taken with a grain of salt, for sure. The RIAA treats 150 on-demand streams as the equivalent of one download sale, which is about as arbitrary as you can get. (And what constitutes an album sale these days isn’t much better.) Still, even removing guest credits, his commercial draw

The 27-year-old is one of the best-selling artists of all time (150 million albums sold worldwide and counting)... He’s sold more albums than ABBA, Jay-Z, or Bruce Springsteen...

To the extent we take “sold albums” literally, as in somebody bought a record/CD/full album on iTunes, I’m very sure this is not true, and I

What a douche

It’s pretty rare for Weird Al songs to satire the song it’s using. Smells Like Nirvana maybe.

It’s a blessing because I think the beat is bumping and thanks to Weird Al I can have that without that piece of shit Robin Thicke.

“Word Crimes” is very high on the list of Weird Al parodies that take the piss out of the original song and video.

Which is a shame, because I feel like she almost comes off better in the original version, which suggests the horrible position female directors have historically been put in when dealing with aggressive, higher status male stars. She checks on the victim and tries to put some rules in place, but doesn’t directly call

Honestly, I’m stunned it wasn’t rampant. I’m GLAD it wasn’t rampant, but the fact that those women weren’t subjected to all manner of abuses on that set is the most surprising part.

I mean, I just don’t have the energy to pretend to be surprised or shocked. I’ve seen the video and listened to the lyrics. I sort of assumed something like this was on record already.

Robin Thicke is a piece of shit? A guy who wrote a song about how it’s so damn hard to realize if a woman wants to have sex with you? A blowhard who thought making an incredibly shitty album dedicated to his estranged wife would fix things? Impossible!

I wished they had used this joke in the tribute to Norm Macdonald, as it is one of my favorites. “The state of Michigan has now made it legal for the blind to go deer hunting. The main backers of the law? The deer.”

Absolutely right about Lohan in Prairie Home Companion. It’s a fine movie and she is wonderful in it.

Oh yeah good movie
