I’m shocked that SH miracle gel made the list. It chipped within two days both times I tried it. It was the worst polish I’ve ever used.

I don’t believe it’s racist to simply choose the best performances from the past year. People should be awarded for their talent and hard work, the colour of your skin should not be a reason to receive recognition. If there was an actor of colour that was worthy of a nomination from 2015 I highly doubt the Academy

I completely understand that this must feel incredibly shitty for Gutierrez, and I actually agree with her that the way the organization handled it was weirdly incompetent, but am I the only person who feels like she could be, I dunno, more gracious and good-humored about the whole thing? I mean, no one ‘took your

I cannot comprehend how someone saying “I’m praying for you to feel better” can be taken in any negative way.

No but by referencing his faith once or twice a year is super offensive to me! How dare he be a human being capable of making his own choices!

Is he forcing you to convert? Is he burning your family at the stakes screaming you are witches? Is anything he is doing, personally, affecting you? No. Then why do you care if he is Christian or not?

IT’S WEIRD RIGHT?

If you can dodge a wrench... You can dodge a shoe.

This would also be a great argument for more men changing their last names at marriage.

It was not a passionate slip of the tongue- I’m sure it simply didn’t occur to her that anyone would think she wasn’t talking about all women. But sure, she got a real good talking to and likely made it just about certain that it’ll be another decade before another public woman even tries to make a statement. I

Why make it about her gender?

I find her insanely annoying.

and that fixes what? i’m black, but i know there are many examples of corrupt and racist black politicians as well. i think the problem that needs to be addressed is more intricate than changing the color of the mayor. but, i am just speculating.

Regarding that link, WOC are sending mixed messages. We’re insulted when white women try to help us fight our battles as if we can’t do it ourselves and in the next breath we berate them for not doing enough. I love Fey and Arquette but they can never truly understand my experience so it’s impossible for them to speak

Ugh. If I ask a question and attempt to explore an issue I’m transphobic. Got it. You’re the only person in this thread to treat this conversation as an opportunity to label someone with a conversation killing pejorative for admitting they don’t have the answers. Well done.

This is an interesting argument, and not one I’ve heard before. But something about it still makes me uneasy. It feels like we’re looking for a way to justify a feeling that these things are morally different, as opposed to arriving at our conclusions about the matter based on the evidence. I’m sure there are material

Honestly, I think we should be very skeptical of ourselves when we think something just feels like it’s true, then attempt to back it up with arguments. We’re starting from a conclusion and then attempting to justify it, which is you know... what bigots and such do all the time.

Thank you for your answer. Respectfully, ‘just feels different’ doesn’t seem like much, and all the arguments you made about Dolezal can be and are deployed against trans-women by many feminists.
