He was absolutely great in Nocturnal Animals, and he's not likely to get any recognition for it elsewhere, so I'd say it's fair.

Yay for Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Huppert!

I know, that's why I'm so relieved. It must be doing gangbusters on Netflix.

I don't agree, I found his performance outweighed the weaknesses in terms of production. I liked his mannerisms/affectations, but I'll admit to likely not being as big a fan of the books.

If this does anything at all to increase Matt Ryan's chances of reprising Constantine on screen, I am all for it.

And the doomsayers said Crazy Ex-Girlfriend would be cancelled, pfft.

….and now they're quoting 'Don't Stop Believing'.

If Valencia gets her own theme tune that would be genuinely the best thing ever.

Very much agreed about the Nathaniel/Valencia parallels and the tension. Rebecca's fall out with Paula explored some good stuff, but they were always going to end up being friends again, so the tension wasn't really the same. Rebecca lost two foils in Greg and Valencia, and whilst Heather and White Josh have been

I wasn't totally sold on Nathaniel until he turned his chair around in the restaurant, which was hilarious, so I'm on board.

I can't contribute to the ratings as I'm in the UK but I watch this show religiously the next morning and have convinced everyone I know with a Netflix account to watch it with tonnes of success. If this transitioned into a Netflix show that would make a great deal of sense to me - I'm hopeful it has a second chance.

Yeah, I'm happy to admit half of the reason I enjoyed it as much as I did was because it was a straight forward romp without too much serialisation. I spent exactly no time explaining to my family who anyone was or what was going on, and that was perfect for me. Not a gold standard, but not the worst introduction

I'm a little behind on DW, but I caught the special, because it's Christmas - and it's one of those things that my family can always come together on.

All these comments and no love for Lito's mother calling him 'Little Penguin'?

I thought the same thing - they could've kept the reflection for that scene at least, which would've been very effective.

Lúcio!

Thirded.

That's fair - I think it was inevitable that those parts would seem weaker/pale compared to the story-within-a-story (by design, to emphasise her dissatisfaction with her life), it is a shame that those sequences failed in finding a way to be as compelling without losing that contrast.

I've got to agree with Josh Modell. I watched 'Arrival' and 'Nocturnal Animals' as an Amy Adams double bill, and whilst I loved both and am happy with 'Arrival' making the cut, I've spent far more time talking, picking over and analysing 'Nocturnal Animals'.

I'm of the opinion that the Texas parts are, obviously, the more exciting and appealing parts of Nocturnal Animals, but that they are meaningless without the NY bits, and to ignore the NY bits is to rob them of their meaning entirely.
