I'm honestly having so much fun with it - the weight of expectations was inevitably going to be a problem for it - but it's my game of the year too, flaws and all.

That's a great point. It also adds a lot to the decision to have Joe - a young, healthy, handsome white man - be the character whose ethics are seemingly the most fluid.

I'm finally catching up, and man, even in a weak episode Gael Garcia Bernal is a force of charm to be reckoned with on this show.

I really liked the sequences of Juliana's escape in this episode (I don't think I've ever liked her as much as when she was taking out those lights on her way through the tunnel) and the final sequence was very tense. The noticeably speedier pace of this season so far is doing well so far.

I'm generally something of a defender of Joe because I see him as representative of a certain kind of person at a certain point in history (i.e a young man, a soldier, after the war is done). It's on the nose, but it always made sense to me that that kind of character, representative of a demographic that faced a

COOPER, YOU TODAY REMIND ME OF A SMALL MEXICAN CHIHUAHUA.

Happy Green Room is so high, took my breath away when I caught it earlier this year, and its stuck with me since.

I'm going to attempt to watch along with the reviews this time in an effort to have some restraint - I actually think this show is better for some breathing room - but so far season two is off to a good start.

'Mozart in the Jungle' is my go to show that is balm for the soul. It gets written off, I think partly because it lacks a certain dour-ness, but sometimes you just want to watch something that is well put together and positive.

It makes me so damn happy Sense8 is having a Christmas special. I have foisted this show on so very many people since discovering it, and every one of them has come back loving it.

I wasn't sure right up until the end of the pilot, which had me completely sold, and smiling like an idiot.

My huge crush on Martin Starr has only intensified as a result of seeing how far he's come. Haverchuk was amazing.

Freaks and Geeks, a show that was absolutely ahead of its time. Also, I finally understand how James Franco ended up being a thing.

Such a terrible plot choice, they'll have to work damn hard for that not to undermine everything he does from now on.

Oof, I can already feel myself not digging this Octavia plot. She does look cool, though. Plus this trailer had a ton of Monty and Murphy which bodes well.

Eva Green was the beating heart of Penny Dreadful , but I'd give credit to Rory Kinnear also for always giving her a scene partner who could match her, and bringing sympathy to his hard-to-redeem monster.

Gotham is a special kind of crazy, you kind of have to admire it.

There's just too much good television to even bother trying to rank it, so instead some other rubbish:

Lots of my most enjoyed shows of the year up here (Penny Dreadful, Braindead, Luke Cage), but man, I really feel like Mr Robot was an unfair omission from the final list.
