Wow, Alonso stock is almost as volatile as Bitcoin. Everyone loved him doing the Indy 500 and deciding to run at LeMans. However, now that he won his rookie race and was faster than his team mates, we hate him for making a statement in a non-native language that could easily be misinterpreted. Good ‘ol Jalopnik!

You’re still competing against LeMans. Not an easy task.

Clearly, this man has never played Rainbow Road at the 150cc level.

They missed the opportunity to brand this “Spirits and Ecstasy”

I was gonna get my panties in a wad and scream “COUNTERPOINT: FUCK YOU” but Mack is taking the punches well and makes some decent (no matter how vomit inducing) points. Props, keep up the good work, and make sure you check your flame suit frequently.

Not sure if I come from another planet. But if the car works and still moves properly, then it’s reliable. You can still drive your car to work if the stereo is broken.

Im not saying I want touch screen controls, Im just saying it ought not be lumped into the same reliability group as, say, an engine. Consumer reports reliability ratings are almost exclusively make or break on the ease of using the infotainment. What kind of silly metric is that? Call it “ease of use”, sure, but

Super sad but let me say this. THIS is the reason the auto community needs to come together and be LESS judgmental and MORE welcoming. This idea isn’t “stupid” it’s just that this individual didn’t know what he didn’t know. You can’t just “make up” physics... there are reasons cages are designed the way they are.

In addition, early mk1 Twingos in decent driver condition tend to be around or below €1k. One could have a 25 year old one in the US or Canada for $3k if you do some of the work yourself.

I really, really hope not. (Especially since there are car noises in this that would be above the car noises?)

Yes, but that wasn’t the point of the argument.

What a brilliant article, thank you. These days it’s hard to find online content that hooks me in and keeps my interest for more than about three seconds. This was fascinating and well written, so thank you. Jenni’s story is inspiring, and as a mechanical engineer myself I admire what must be an encyclopaedic brain.

Also, one more thing:

“you want long-term business sustainability ... Will you be doing the same thing in five years, or 10 years, as YouTube further decreases your revenue stream without your say? Somehow I doubt it!”

The thing is, I don’t mind playing in a 15,000-seat stadium against the Reno Tube Socks and giving away a 2009 Dodge Caliber during the fourth inning. I’m really good at it. My revenues are not getting decreased, and I’m happy with my income.

I recognize this may get buried here, as it goes against the prevailing point of view, but I want to provide a counterpoint.

It’s supposed to have LIDAR or similar sensors which detect obstacles in front of it - whether or not they’re illuminated. Part of the point of these autonomous vehicles is that they’re supposed to have better ways to detect potential problems than a human driver, and this shows that wasn’t the case.

Yeah, can’t really blame the mom here. We’ve seen what airlines are willing to do to “unruly” passengers, and how far they’re willing to go to get customers kicked off planes over petty bullshit.

FAKE NEWS TORCH! Everbody knows Doctor Who drives a London Police Box not an F40, can’t believe you got hoodwinked like that.

Wiseau serious?
