Thank you both!

I had a friend who loved messing with my hair because it was very long and straight (it went totally curly around age 14 though). One day she was brushing it and the round brush got stuck on the side of my head, right near the top. Cutting the hair would be incredibly obvious. I cried, and her mother spent an hour and

Oh my God that reminded me of a fashion blunder from when I was... five? My parents got most of our clothes from second hand stores and they had gotten a box of clothes which had this fish net tank top thing that was my size and I thought it was the coolest thing ever. My parents in their foolishness allowed me to

Remember that weird-ass orange-red lipstick that was supposed to turn the perfect color for your skin chemistry or something?

Oh man. In my grade 7 yearbook photos, I am wearing silver lipstick.

I'm jealous of the women who got to dye their hair crazy colors in high school; my mom would never let me. As an adult I've also never dyed my hair (except short-lived front highlights) because I'm worried about fucking it up. Also, I'm very lazy & don't want to have to keep doing it.

TMI but mines naturally in a heart shape and it's my favorite thing. I shave it to accentuate the heart shape and then stridently insist it's natural.

That sounds suspiciously like a poodle permed mullet. I feel for you.

Similar story: I had dyed black hair that clashed with my skin tone, and to wanted to go purple, another color that makes me looks washed out and sallow. I had about two inches of root at this point. I bought Punky Colors bleach and bleached it, but it turned my roots blonde and my other hair orangutan Orange. Rather

I have so been to that place. Got tired of my dyed-black hair (with two inches of dark auburn-brown roots) at age ~19, didn't understand how bleach and dye actually work, decided to go red. Via just...a box of flame red L'Oreal. Which is very powerful on virgin hair. But not at all on dyed hair.

Just like every late 80s/early 90s girl child had the wedge cut. Aka mushroom cloud head? Also behold the glory of matching dresses.

omg I wore that hairstyle to my 10-year high school reunion. In 2001. Except, with super poofy curls in the back.

Wellllll...kid Taylor Swift

I layered black fishnets over hot pink tights just a few years ago. I should be more embarrassed by that than I am.

Can we do fashion?

In the early aughts, I tried to give myself blonde highlights over my bright red (dyed) hair. Most of my hair stayed bright red, but my slightly grown out roots took to the bleach. My roots were platinum and the rest was bright red. I was very skinny back then and slightly resembled Lumiere from Beauty and the Beast,

Like this?

When I was about 15, I dyed my hair jet black. Which made me look like I was not only dead, but in advanced stages of decay. After a few months and a few inches of my natural (dark-blond) color growing in at the roots, I tried bleaching all of it platinum.

I don't have pictures, but when I was 15, my family went to our home country for my cousin's wedding. My aunt booked appointments for the cousins, aunts, etc. to get their hair done at a salon. So I went in with an idea of exactly what I wanted. I wanted something like this image (curled, pinned to the side), but with

Red food coloring for goth eye makeup.
