you're right. these conversations should come from within the communities of responsible gun enthusiasts, and their lobbying agencies and clubs and the manufacturers and the people who really know what they are talking about.

stop trying to justify your apathy.

no one suggested any one or any many things would stop these incidents entirely.

you seem to have given this a lot of thought.

"probably"

what if a hunting license came with a rebate for a small number of bullets. so registered, good-guy hunters, get 12 or 20 or 25 bullets per season tax-free or at reduced tax.

a bullet costs less than a cigarette. i refuse to believe increasing the cost of ammo wouldn't at least reduce specifically mass shootings, which are mostly completed by people who have obtained guns and ammo completely legally. you don't need 3,000 rounds to protect your home. you can have 50 bullets in your home.

so you are willing to give up zero. nothing. not any dollars. not any time. to see things like training certification prior to obtaining a gun license. or paying a few dollars more for bullets you claim you do not plan to shoot into someone's baby.

it pisses me off that 18+ little babies died and you don't think you could bear to give up any of your ridiculous entitlements to prevent it happening again.

^BINGO

how much WOULD you be willing to pay for ammo?

yes, you are definitely, no-question, one of the bad people.

so let's find out! maybe you are right! is your proposal "do nothing, because hard, whaaa. nevermind, let's go eat worms."

we will have to disagree. because you are incorrect and i am correct, yes.

no, false. tax revenue on cigarettes in ny is just fine, and raising the taxes has demonstrably lowered smoking rates. there has always been a black market for cigarettes, and taxes have always been much lower on roll-your-own products. and taxation still works. you are objectively incorrect.

anyone can make cigarettes too. we still tax the ones that come pre-made in a pretty little box. your argument is invalid.

this is often trotted out, and there is validity here. but this is not an insurmountable obstacle. so have them apply for a rebate. a bullet-stamp program. anything. i'm tired of the idea of 100, or 1,000 or even 10,000 rural families being used as an argument to shut down legitimate options for reducing the gun

it's a "fuck you week" post. fuck civility.

if you want to murder, $25 might not stop you. but then you only get one bullet. you might miss. $250, or $2500, might stop you. especially if you were planning a mass murder. as would a waiting period for both guns and bullets.

Gun ranges can have a better rate, sure, why not. Cops and military too. It's private, take-home bullets that ought to be ridiculously expensive.
