as i was reading this thread the thought came to me 'this would have been interesting if daniels was revealed to be the villain'. they would have had the perfect actor for it too.

The 'Killer Game Show' genre is incredibly difficult to master, mostly because people always want to add extra plot instead of sticking to an inherently dramatic premise. Killians back story, the entire rebellion sub plot, even maria conchita alonso's character can be cut out completely.

'The Running Man, an '80s Schwarzenegger vehicle,'

Well now I want a movie with Joe Mortons SWAT commander and McGinleys from Se7en.

Fun fact all 3 of those properties was made into a saturday morning cartoon. The Mask is obscenely underrated-one of the best comic book adaptions ever, and Cameron Diaz has one of the great debut entrances in film history.

shes 58 (!!!) she looks unbelievable for her age.

'That to me makes it seem like somebody thought she had box office appeal even before Speed.'

'She's absurdly charming in that movie.'

Arnold and Cameron were so blown away by her performance that they called her during editing and told her to tell her agent to demand top billing with Schwarzenegger because they would back her up.

yeah people dont seem to really connect the ridley scott—->tony scott——>michael bay dots nowadays. At the time i was ten years old and could tell they were all going for the same style, derived from all 3s work in commercials.

oh i could do a daily blog of these. The big one for me is The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo directed by David Cronenberg, set on the coast of Nova Scotia with Ellen Page as Lisbeth Salander and Brad Pitt as Michael Bloomquist.

But would Lucas have added the voice over in post to tie the film together?

I feel like Ed Harris was transported from the McTiernan dimension. He clearly isnt taking the film as ridiculously as everyone else.

No, its clearly a comedy (Tom Arnold? Charlton Heston with a Nick Fury eye patch?? Arnold shooting a guy strapped to a rocket, through a building, into an enemy helicopter??? The director of The Abyss and Titanic knows none of this is to be taken seriously).

i still say Armageddon is Bays over the top masterpiece. He found a premise so batshit insane that no car commercial derived camera insanity could distract from it.

Oh i def think its the best of those late 90s teen 'horror' movies.

Leung makes the movie. He didnt get the memo everyone else di to turn off their 'acting' switches.

also Nina Dobrev and Ruby Rose. I havent been so bummed about this cast quality to lead actor quality ratio since The Huntsman:Winter's War.

He basicaly disowned it-no commentary/featurettes for the dvd, no re-releases etc.

He cared more about having total control over his projects than making good films. I consider The Faculty his high water mark and his pretty much disowned it.
