Thank you. She was hospitalized for 7 days, but was in ICU for only 3 days or less… uh, fewer. Less. Whatever. It feels very real and also unreal at the same time. I am suddenly a home owner and paying property taxes. It's weird. And it just feels wrong that she's not around.

My mom was 69 when she died Friday, joining the club of David Bowie and Alan Rickman. Illustrious company. Though as a literary teacher she may relate more to Harper Lee and Umberto Eco. I was reading Howl's Moving Castle to her in the hospital. Still reading it now.

I know who Rucka is, but I don't think you got the point of my comment at all.

Makes sense, eviscerating lots of people makes your hero cool. No wonder the '90s x-treme craze worked!

Perhaps, but back when Wolverine was actually cool, they didn't feel the need to depict so much bloody slicin' and dicin' to make him successful.

Although the comics are PG and they don't show a lot of blood and guts either.

I write scripts for travel documentaries. It's a different animal from screenplay writing but it certainly is a skill. It's a challenge coz you need to find a through line without making it come off as overbearing. Establishing a voice, the usual stuff that good writing is made of… it all comes into play.

I don't know where King got this rep of bad endings. Endings are tough and a lot of authors stumble writing'em. King miffed some, but he wrote many a fine ending as well. I suspect it's the human propensity to focus on negatives over positives that's at play here.

Thanks, mbs. I had guessed the Geronimo reveal, and I was glad that they unveiled it early in the run. I'm still not sure if Colony wants to suggest parallels with Iraq and Afghanistan (or even Palestine), but the idea that taking down a big name leader can be a win and a setback at the same time is very true to life,

Ha ha, thanks. I'm good at compartmentalizing, so I think I'll be okay. Oh wait, is this the "Home" revisit episode? Hmmm…. yeah I'll have to think about that.

Thank you, Franko.

My mom is in the hospital, so I missed a lot of TV last week. So I ended up dl'ing shows into my phone and watching them during the long, empty hours in the hospital: Flash, iZombie, Arrow, New Girl, and Colony.

I've always viewed the Nolan films as the story of the "real" Batman, who got transformed into the legend that is the Batman of the comics.

Bunheads, you are missed. I had not expected much from the show, but it captured my heart. Gone too soon, damn. I feel ya, Ginny!

You mean the one on the planet Banjoo?

Broaden out musically, you say? Nice, I guess that means we're getting' Star Wars banjo music!

I too sensed a predatory vibe from Jabba.

He's a polarizing figure, that's for sure. I just finished the third book and as I like to see Quentin out of his element, I enjoyed the early going much more than the later half. Plum I find to be a very Harry Potterish character, mostly in a good way. (SPOILER for non readers) I had hoped for an ending where Quentin
