Really wish it had a bit more power stock, cause it’s pretty much done at about 75-80 stock, and that’s just not enough for SoCal freeways.

Yeah exactly. Why the hell would I spend 10k or more on a new Sportster when I can get a 10 year old Sportster that’s exactly the same damn bike for 3500? Or better yet, take that 3500 and buy any other used motorcycle ever built. 

That puts it right up against the Triumph Thruxton R, BMW R-Nine-T, Ducati Scrambler, Ducati Monster, Indian FTR, Kawasaki Z900RS...

There’s that, and also the fact that most enthusiast cars are getting more expensive, even used. And custom cars are just out of the budget for a generation that owes 1.7 trillion dollars in student loan debt. 

The Speedmaster 1300 has something like 100 hp. For about the same price as a Sportster Iron or Forty Eight 1200. There’s also the crazy Rocket 3. 

So it’s like a German Edsel now?

Yeah if VW ever does the right thing and starts importing these things to the US, they should change the name for the market. For example, sell them in the Bay Area as “Luxury Studio Apartment.”

Erik Buell is already making e-bikes without HD’s help. I think I’d buy one of his over a LiveWire.
