Most new cars have back-illuminated screens for all these tasks, so they’re always on.

I cannot understate how nice it is to have a GPS-specific device that is rated for foul weather and that doesn’t have a camera with stabilisers that can be destroyed by rogue vibrations through the handlebars. Also, that then means that my phone can just stay in my pocket and stay charged.

My apologies, I was slightly incorrect: the SPEED of the wipers is controlled through the touchscreen and has been ruled illegal in Germany as it is an unnecessary distraction.

This is the same company that keeps the controls for windshield wipers on a touchscreen and designed the car such that water pours into the trunk if you open it whilst it’s raining: they’re made for Californian weather, not Scottish weather.

Bought it back in alpha, and I come back to it every couple of years to lose myself in the early game and live out my ‘hobby tunneling’ dreams. It’s amazing to me how much has been added and changed without losing the feel; it’s a remarkable achievement to make something so universal.

I didn’t realise that punching to solve all your problems (in space) doesn’t count as toxic masculinity! Neat!

Heck, even in my 911 I hold back until it’s clear and I can accelerate like a normal person rather than like I’m trying to show off.

Haha you’re right! Thank you. You can see the one I work with more regularly.

The X-Ray machines absolutely have an effect on your film, especially if it’s high-speed (e.g. more sensitive). Even worse are new Coherent Tomography (CT) scanners, which have an even higher exposure, and will change the grain and colour of your low-speed films, too.

Fauxrsh”

This is one of those moments that I love to quote the meme “if I ever win the lottery, I won’t tell anyone, but there will be signs.”

I might actually have to go test drive one of these things; it looks great, which gets me in the door.

Nah, would’ve just diffused the situation.

Thank you!

At my prior place of employment, there were solar panels covering the parking lot. Not only did it generate its own electricity for the lights in the parking area and provide shade for the hot summer days, but it also significantly offset the electric car chargers. It was a good idea then, and I’m glad it’s getting

There’s a 911 and a 1978 BMW R100RS in my garage. I keep looking at other classic BMW motorcycles to buy and fix up. I had a WRX, but went through two engines and a drivetrain over the course of my eight-year ownership. Some of that was shoddy work by a ‘reputable’ shop, though.

Honestly, if the body and frame are in good condition, I’d go with a nice price on this example. $60k is a lot, and there will likely be tens of thousands more to do in the next years, but if you have the money and want a mild project, you could go a lot worse than this lovely E Type.

We all have our engine-layout foibles. I have an unhealthy, verging-on-masochistic love of boxer engines.
