AAAA, huh? I remember a time when the number of ‘A’s indicated a level of quality and not how horribly mismanaged a game’s financials are.

For a company called Embracer, they sure enjoy letting things go. 

I’m still baffled on how this is supposed to be a ‘AAAA’ game.

Those aren’t really parodies. They actually do their own thing. Palworld’s hook is basically committing atrocities to probably the most successful IP in the world, and if it didn’t invoke specifically Pokemon, than there’d be no game.

Not speaking specifically to Palworld, I find kind of funny that in a post-AI world, you really can’t make a parody off an IP without being accused of using AI. If the purpose is to riff off of Pokemon, than essentially you’d want to invoke Pokemon as much as you can while skirting copywrite.

There’s no problem with having a story revolve around a main character. Don’t know why you’re thinking elsewise. The way this whole ordeal was brought to light is completely messed up. I’m pretty sure VAs were ready to strike for this exact reason, and yet it still happened. If anyone is angry at SAG-AFTRA, they have every right to be.

A wider question to ask, does this mean Nintendo is open to using A.I. tech/voices in their future games? Nintendo usually keeps a short leash on their IPs, so it’s hard to imagine they don’t know what’s happening when they lend the likeness of one of their most popular properties.
