I could have used this in high school; I was so immature when I went off to college that I did the typical boozing/getting laid schtick and really regret it. My son's school incorporates SEL (Social and Emotional Learning) into their curriculum starting in 1st grade and it is a fantastic program.
*snaps fingers like I’m on the set of Love Jones*
I love this cover, but it pisses me off that you'd never see five woc in vogue or any other more mainstream (white...) publication.
This was beautiful. Do you mind if I share your comment on The Salad Bowl? :)
This is everything. Every.Thing. It is crucial that young black girls and women see this cover and say “yep.” I hope they will find the amazing body of work Queen Debbie has done both in front of and behind the cameras. I hope that all the nerdy and awkward black girls see that Issa is telling their stories. I hope…

Just FYI: GelmaJ (aka SelmaJ aka JudyJ) is a fairly well-documented troll.
What a lovely burner. Welcome.
I agree with you, actually, to a point. The perception that men see women as meat is a product of (dun dun dun) patriarchy, and is actually one of those misconceptions that feminism is trying to correct. It's why in these video games all you often see are a parade of jiggling boobs and butts, devoid of anything…
I think the problem here is that you're approaching women as a stereotype instead of as individuals. We don't all like shoes. We don't all like unicorns. So here's the answer, and it's actually a pretty easy one: complaints against gamergate are not against you. This article is largely about the origin of gamergate and the extreme actions of some of its members. It's not about all gamers. The article even takes pains to say that the people doing the heinous actions are…
It's not, "ethics in journalism" is their code word for "articles about diversity." What they really want is a gaming press that never talks about sexism, racism, or anything else other than praise for how awesome "gamers" are.
Having lived exactly that: not like this.
Don't forget; we also had daytime talk shows!
lol wrong take away? This is about how people fight culture wars now and the media's role in legitimizing both sides of an argument as if they're equally valid.
Zines and family reunions
How did people let the rest of the world know they were horrible shitheads before the advent of the internet?
At least the new culture war is about videogames instead of something important.
