“Maybe somebody will call me ‘sir’ without adding ‘you’re making a scene’” - Homer Simpson

DT: I moved on her, and I failed. I’ll admit it.

When Yummsh sheds their skin in between seasons the strippers follow them around with buckets.

Good! It’s about time someone struck back against the Debracracy that has controlled this country for too long! I’m especially impressed that this New American Revolution has been started by an oppressed Minority like {checks notes} President of the United States of America! Go go get her, Mister President! America

Well at least these guys didn’t die in vain, some Vulture Capital vampires will eventually suck all the life and profits out of D&D until there is nothing left but a microtransaction.

At least part of it with the Art and Arcana book is that a LOT of the early art for D&D was both amateurish and stolen, so they can’t really tell the story of the art (and D&D generally) without facing some of the seat-of-their-pants ugliness of the early days.

Right, I agree. I think it’s pretty clear that Gygax was, at the very least, not a very good businessman, which resulted in him doing some shitty things. But him being an asshole doesn’t mean his contributions didn’t matter (which is how I read Kuntz, who ascribes everything Gygax did to jealousy and a desire to

Personally, I haven’t heard that much from Kuntz directly, so that was an interesting angle for the article. I remember an overview of Kuntz’s relationship with Gygax in Designers and Dragons, but the details don’t always stick in my memory, so this article was useful.

It just feels weird to see what was once my “common knowledge” being unearthed like some long-lost relic a decade later.  This must be what getting old feels like, and I’m only 33!

“One day, he was flipping through a copy of a neighbor’s Playboy magazine when he saw something that captivated his 13-year-old imagination: an advertisement for board games.”

“I was a great dismay to many girlfriends,” Kuntz said.

The only thing here I don’t believe.

I think about Gygax when I’m playing DnD about as much as I think of Ray Kroc when I’m eating at McDonalds.

“I was a great dismay to many girlfriends,” Kuntz said.

i’m still waiting on someone to make a combustion engine that runs off of the H2 in H2O.

Omen of my favorite depictions of Samus is actually from the Webcomic Awkward Zombie

Hard agree, Nintendo is fully culpable in this. But again, fan artists don’t have to be!

Yeah, s’ok. I like the rendering and the different details on the armour.

I’ve always preferred the Metroid Prime design for the Varia, which was a realistic take without making the suit look any different from how’d it appeared in previous games and art. It has a sleek almost androgynous form that doesn’t feel sexualised instead looking incredibly powerful, it’s great.

This is pretty impressive. He was able to suck any sort of interesting design from Samus and make her even -more- generic. Well done.

I think a Metroid destroyed her waist, and she is about to collapse into a heap.
