Do you need to specify “sci-fi” when talking about David Bowie?
Fry: Uh, I have a question. What if Bender was really giant?
If they had to remake the Prisoner again, I wouldn’t mind it if they got someone like a Terry Gilliam or a David Lynch to handle it. Of course, I doubt you could ever talk either of those guys into a project like that.
I’ve been bitter for a while at having an MMO be the next step in the Old Republic universe instead of another very well made RPG that I can play for much less.
I get it in some ways. For one, I think Disney really wanted something “safe” after the prequels. They paid a TON of money for the franchise, and a failure could have really put a dent into any plans.
I don’t mind it had similar beats, I’m just not sure why they had to be SO similar. Why not start Rey off on a planet…
Yeah, I get what he’s saying and I’m sure he believes it, but I don’t buy it. I don’t think the movie needed to be so similar to A New Hope. It certainly didn’t need to be to be successful: the prequels made loads of money even though they weren’t very similar at all (or as well liked). Star Wars is one of the most…
We pretty much loved Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The things this movie got right were so much more important than…
I’m 27, live in the United States, and the works of Douglas Adams are what got me through middle school!
You had me until “Max Landis.”
Wait, didn’t we just have a whole bunch of people on here predicting the same thing from The Force Awakens?
Well I’m happy someone wanted to fund it. After the mediocrity of Broken Age (which I helped fund) and the other space game they half-assed I lost faith in them and just couldn’t give them any more money. Hope they are smart enough this time to deliver on time and give fans what they want because if they don't I can’t…
Let's be honest: Everything after the pilot in the first season is pretty much garbage until maybe the CDC. And then the show spent the three years that followed being only occasionally watchable before turning a corner once Andrea finally died.
The idea that this could in any way impact BvS ticket sales is pretty silly, though.
Honestly it’s a half decent action movie with some great set pieces but other than that it’s a complete mess and mainly serves as an example of style over substance.
I don’t think it’s bad... I just think I’ve seen that exact same plot more than once. The visuals are cool, but the story feels like an afterthought sometimes, “white saviour” aside.
I always thought it was a visually stunning movie without a ton of depth. It’s also much less visually stunning on a TV than it was on IMAX.
I don’t think you understand that the only reason he can afford to do this is because he earned himself and his publishers enough money to allow them to be lenient to him. Do you seriously believe they would go the extra mile for a first-timer? They’d put the contract into the shredder and tell him there’s thousands…
Actually they do, if they aren’t making money off of it. It’s called Fair Use.
It’s just a damned shame that the series that ought to be leading the charge when it comes to hopeful, thoughtful science fiction and fantasy only dished out, well, this:
