I feel like the knife play practice would have been much better served in an earlier episode, so that it wasn't so goddamn obvious what the final outcome of this one would be. It felt very very sloppy on the foreshadowing.

I remember when I was younger and used to hear kids try to talk badass and say things like "Yeah we took ecstasy and fucked all night.". And I was always thinking… no, you didn't you fucking liar.
That's the problem with Paul, it's two distinct characters I just can't reconcile. His personal life is so utterly bizarre that I can't rationalize his competence in his job and interactions with others.
I think that waiting for the inevitable orgy/party is why I'm sticking around this particular show.
