$45k per year is way too low.  Very few households with that income have anything more than a High School Diploma.  It sounds elitist, but I don’t want ONLY people with lower education deciding policy.  I do think that SOME people from the lower-middle and lower classes should be representatives.

American automakers have yet to figure out that people aren’t going to pay the same prices as a Camry or Accord for fleet cars that aren’t quite as reliable or good.  

Yeah, had a C-class and was floored when taking it for its first “service” that cost hundreds of dollars. Didn’t take long before I just traded it in for a Lexus ES and just go to the Toyota dealership or my local shop.

Perhaps if you know exactly what’s wrong with your car when you’re on the side of the road and know pricing comparisons between dealership and local shops for all potential parts, but most of us have no clue what’s going on with our cars when they break down.  

I say just get AAA. It’s less than $100 per year, comes with a lot of discounts if you travel, and you can get towed to whatever shop you want.

It’s relative. As a lifelong Texan, Austin is pretty much the only solidly liberal place in the entire state. Other metro areas and South Texas tend to lean Democrat, but they’re not truly San Francisco-style liberal places like Austin.

Just a fantastically produced mini-series all around. It’s depressing, but they throw in some well-placed humor (the mining crew chief made me laugh out loud). I love that it’s extremely accurate overall. Definitely going to be a classic.
