I’m willing to bet Alan Moore is cursing very loudly somewhere right about now.
I’m willing to bet Alan Moore is cursing very loudly somewhere right about now.
What about the fat kid from the New Frontiersman who found it at the end of Watchmen?
Alan Moore outside DC Comics, pissing on their front door, if for no other reason because he secretly loves them but display contempt because he doesn’t accept his feeling. Or he is drunk.
I think I saw photos of him with a tiki torch in Charlottesville
Don’t watch this.
Not to mention a hypocrite whose absolutist stand against killing a lot of people for the sake of saving a much larger number of people was contradicted by his youthful essay where he wrote “I like President Truman, the way Dad would of wanted me to. He dropped the atom bomb on Japan and saved millions of lives…
Alan Moore is not cursing about this, Alan Moore is almost certainly summoning something to fix it.
Oh my gawd, now I have this idea for a whole art-themed superhero team: Mondrian, The Screamer, American Gothic, Capitan Guernica, Winged Victory... See what you did?
I am of two minds about this. In one side, I have always wanted material that digs deeper into the Watchmen world, and I half got my wish granted when “Before Watchmen” appeared. Some of it I liked, some I did not, but I digress.
Her murder drive Barry to be the hero he is. He wouldn’t have been a CSI his dad wouldn’t be in prison. And then he as a person would be vastly different. It’s a cascade effect. Then at the end of flashpoint it’s revealed someone else (Manhattan we now know) split reality into the New 52 Realities.
To quote The Question (upon whom Rorshach was based)
“Rorschach sucks.”
It could be a nice call back to flashpoint, where it all started. Barry tells the story of saving his mom then having to kill her again starting all the nonsense. Rorschach says he has to go back because dead is dead. Manhattan has something else to think about for the next 30 years. This time on Pluto.
No, he was still a homophobic misogynist with violent tendencies, he just had enough self-control to rein them in back then.
The real problem for this is that for the most part the more someone appreciates Watchmen, the less interested they are in spinoffs & tie-ins.
Rorschach was a deeply disturbed, fascist, homophobic psychopath
If Moore gets a nightmare about this, he can always switch over to one of his erotic dreams about Dorothy Gale getting gangbanged by farmhands in a Kansas barnyard.
Instead of cursing, Moore should be reminding everyone that Rorschach was a deeply disturbed, fascist, homophobic psychopath and that Batman, Superman, et al would drag him kicking and screaming to Arkham Asylum the minute they met him. Doing anything else would completely contradict what makes the DC heroes actual…
Ty Templeton said it best:
Isn’t he always cursing loudly somewhere? Probably bitching about it to John Constantine.
Can I just repost my comment from 2012 when Before Watchmen was first announced? Seems even more relevant now:
