I wonder if it would be possible to steal someones car this way. Never underestimate the power of hackers.

Consider the $20,000 a bug bounty for finding the bug in their sales system. It’s a one-time cost, and would, on balance, be well worth the publicity too.
No, but it didn’t stop at the erroneous listing. Tesla had actually accepted the down-payment and promised a delivery date. I would think that at that point at the latest, Tesla had legally committed to their offer. Maybe he should have been more persistent.
This is not vehicle that was listed in auto trader where the seller has no obligation to sell at the listed price. This is a contractual deal negotiated and signed by both parties. If you don’t meet your contractual obligations you are liable.
Well, so the dealership-less transaction ended up just like a dealership experience. They advertise cars they don’t have, you check to see if the car is available, and you are told that it is. You go to the dealership and the car has vanished, but the dealer has another car that costs significantly more, because they…
COTD
honestly this and some other rookie mistakes make it seem like Tesla still has some sloppy processes. Cars purchased internally for company consumption should be given an asset tag and not wind up anywhere near retail shipping channels.
This is exactly the kind of BS that tesla is claiming to prevent by not using a dealership model.
Not even. A dealer would eventually be shamed into honoring their original agreement. I recall all those times a dealer that somehow didn’t understand how eBay works accidentally took a huge loss on a car and then refused to sell it at the sold price. Those almost always work out in the buyer’s favor after someone…
Haha, and I believe there have been articles in the past on this site and others how Tesla was going to make the “shady dealership” sales model extinct and make car buying experience so hassle-free?
Here’s an idea: Tax the gas and tax the motorists to use them, instead of this ridiculous CAFE nonsense!
Looked like a Mormon mission.
Also, that’s a Schwinn Stingray.
Where can I buy a road with a corner in it for under $60k?
As a Texan this hits all too close to home. My stepfather was laid off last year due to this. He was a safety manager at a company that rented drilling equipment, and they lost the majority of their business due to the falling oil prices.
Yeah. No. The Feds take 25% of the income tax immediately and then you are responsible for the remaining tax bill at the end of the year when you (or team of accountants) file your taxes.
Play poker (you do know how to play Texas Hold ‘em, right). Find lowest ante tables or go for a low priced tournament. Sure, the house gets its rake but you’re not actually winning or losing to the house which (for me) makes it more fun.
There are two kinds of gamblers, liars and losers.
Actually poker is the best bet as there are no odds against the house, you just pay a rake.
I refuse to be excited about blockbuster cards when they’re announced because of how often people get injured.
