If I'm being honest, I'm mostly watching Lisa Eldridge make up videos because I went down a rabbit hole after Pope Alexander posted one yesterday.

Oh yeah. I was clerking at the appellate level, post conviction. I honestly cannot even remember what aspect he was appealling either, but I know it got upheld. I it was an entrapment defense (after the co-worker called the police, the police told him to go forward with pretending to help him hire one). It didn't go

Someone has been watching too much SVU.

Holy shit I just realized I typed "rape kid." What a horribly unintentional error.

You are doing great!!

That is a very good point. No one ever says "well yes I have the property but he gave it to me."*

The stages this went through, too. First the parent came up with it, presumably while tanked with her sister. Then maybe the presented to grandma, who was like SOLID IDEA LADIES. AND THEN they went to a co-worker who ALSO THOUGHT IT WAS A GOOD IDEA.

Still, I have to admit my first thought was "shit do WE need to start throwing money at pitbull?"

I think it is because there are very few crimes where testimony is the sole—-and best—-evidence we have. Someone (that I dismissed because *shrug* I can and don't feel like dealing with shit today) mentioned that every raped woman needs to get a rape kid. There's myriad issues with that statement but perhaps the most

Aw thanks. :)

You are a trooper, I just dismissed the guy because I'm trying to work and don't feel up to arguing with someone who missed the entire point of my comment.

The short answer is yes, I suppose a jury could find someone guilty solely because they found an accuser more trustworthy than an accused. I would guess that is most likely to happen when the he said he said is between a police officer and an accused (such as a resisting arrest charge, where the evidence would

Rape is an unusual crime in the fact that the entirety of your proof really does come in the form of testimony v. testimony, which just makes it hard to prove. It's all about credibility of witnesses and how the jury perceives them. I think the real answer is a societal change in how we view the truthfulness of women.

People are still defending cosby.

Or, "there is no evidence of rape!" As a lawyer this boggles the mind. Testimony is evidence. If she testifies that he did it, that's evidence. Just like if he testifies he didn't, that is also evidence. What people are really saying is that men are more trustworthy than women, at all times.

"...seeing things like that in slow motion really demonstrates how resilient the human body [of incredibly fit and healthy professional athletes] can be."

My theory about people like Cathy Young: sometimes I get completely and utterly overwhelmed by the awfulness of the world, ya know? Like, I used to drive by a Home Depot where day laborers hung out and it made me cry. I mean, that seems a bit silly because I think it was a good place to get work, but the point is that

I just finally cancelled glossy box. I just can't do it anymore!! So much stuff! Don't worry though I'm still wasting money on a subscription service. I just switched to rocks box (I think that's what it is called) where they rent you fun jewelry for a month. Will try this till there's something new to take my money.

Hehehehe.

I have NO idea. The first time I saw it on a menu I ordered it because I expected it to be newfangled and amazing but... it was good, yes, but something like everyone who has ever been a simple egg dinner type has had. It's def a weird phenomenon.
