And in case the whole thing wasn’t a big enough black-eye to the affected Americans (I’m still fighting the identity theft fallout myself), they are expected to gain from this financially due to the fact that everyone affected will have to carry identity insurance for life. And the only thing that congress did was

Is it just me, or does the “free market” seem to be the wrong tool for all this? I’m increasingly inclined to move to a country where, when shenanigans like this are uncovered, people go to jail.

Hmmm....

Subsidies from Big Pharma? I think you might be onto something there.

Hell, Subways can’t keep their teen sandwich artists for more than a week at a time—how is Garbage Fire Administration going to sell “come get your arms pulled of while heavy labor destroys your spine! Be addicted to opioids in ten years!” to them?

I think it’s both. Getting skills costs so much here, it’s just not worth it. If employers bothered to pay for the full training they want from their workers, they would have skilled workers. But again, you have to plant the seeds, water the plants, fertilize the soil, etc, before you can harvest the crops.

Eh I’ve long thought the skills gap was a myth because employers don’t want to pay fair wages for the skills they want. That’s like me complaining there’s a shoe shortage because I can’t find $10 Louboutins.

Consider the intensity of the training that people in the armed forces undergo. They are separated from society and drilled for a reason: so that their bodies behave in ways that are entirely unnatural to them. No amount of “extended training” for chainsaw operation is going to mirror a 10-16 week stint in Basic

If you really want teens working in heavy industry, why not take a cue from the Germans and create and fund a system of technical high schools and apprentice based community colleges for students to attend (free of charge) and then work for those industries? All these companies talk about how hard it is to find

This is not the same thing but indulge me:

This is good earther. Outstanding, Brian. I didn’t realize we lost that much old ice. Now that’s fucked up.

Clearly in this case this person is using Traditional Values as code for bigotry. Once you look at it that way, it makes a lot more sense.

Because right wing moralists rape their dogs when they aren’t taking their mistresses to get abortions.

“The Shitty Avengers? Are they any good?”

Why write all that drivel when you could have just cut to the chase and said I’m a huge fan of Trump.

If you want to keep your rose-colored glasses on and ignore the fact that this administration is nothing more than a dumpster-fire, you’re free to do so. Meanwhile, the adults will be over here discussing real solutions.

As I said, it would only be used for repeat offenders. It would be a deterrent. If the only penalties that a bank faces are fines that are millions or billions of dollars less than the money they stole that isn’t a punishment — that is an insurance claim.

Fuck these fucking criminal organizations! While the CFPB was the best of what we could expect, it still was toothless.

yes, then laud it for representation.

Do these assholes root for Scrooge in A Christmas Carol?
